Eric Sebzda, PhD

Principal Investigator

Dr. Sebzda is a lovely man and a true inspiration to those who work with him. Although he's too humble to mention his charity work and philanthropy, trust me, it's something. When he's not busy being the best damn Principle Investigator in the Sebzda Lab, he spends his leisure time "keeping it real". Despite obtaining a BSc with a specialist in Immunology (University of Toronto), a PhD that focused on Immunology (University of Toronto), two Immunology-based postdocs (CRUK in London, UK and UPenn in Philadelphia), and establishing an independent lab that studies basic properties of Immunology, Eric Sebzda still enjoys Immunology. You know it's an interesting subject matter when you can make that claim.

Md Moazzem Hossain, MD PhD

Lab Manager

Moazzem joined the Sebzda lab in December 2018. Although he has considerable experience working with mouse models at Wayne State University, I want to focus on two facts: he received his PhD in Medical Zoology from Tokyo Medical and Dental University (Tokyo, Japan) and he obtained his medical degree from the Lugansk Medical Institute in the Union of the Soviet Republics (Lugansk, Ukraine). Being a Bangladeshi native, this means he speaks more languages than I have shoes. For the record, I have three shoes.

Kaitlyn Gordon, BA

Masters Student

Kaitlyn obtained a BA in Biology in 2018 and soon after joined the Sebzda lab. Her professed interests include volunteering, Model UN, and learning about the brain. Currently she is studying autoimmune diseases, including mouse models of multiple sclerosis. Now that she's been convinced that the brain is unimportant, we are trying to persuade her that volunteering is a "sucker's game".

Smiling Nurse

Alex Carabulea

Volunteer

This is not a photo of Alex. He wasn't in the lab when I decided to make this webpage entry. FEEL MY WRATH! On a positive note, Alex is a smart, engaging person who demonstrates all of the basic qualities necessary to succeed in science. He has a bright future ahead of him.

Joseph Z

Alumnus

Although Joseph only rotated for 90 minutes in the lab, his presence will be sorely missed. I'm not sure why he showed up to work that day since he had to attend a funeral two hours later, but I'm glad I got to know him. Good times, good times.
